Rollingergrund, a young neighborhood in Luxembourg
The origins of the Rollingergrund neighborhood date back to 1223. Its development followed that of the Boch pottery factory, which has been located here since the 18th century. Luxembourgish Villeroy & Bochtableware is well-known among enthusiasts of beautiful table settings and tableware.
A relatively “young” neighborhood, Rollingergrund attracts a cosmopolitan population of immigrants who work primarily in Kirchberg. Located in the valley between downtown Luxembourg City and Kirchberg, this neighborhood stretches along its main street, Rue de Rollingergrund.
The neighborhood has no real center. However, its proximity to amenities is its main asset.
Today, Rollingergrund is primarily a residential neighborhood. The areas around the school and the church are the liveliest.
The neighborhood features many single-family homes. The oldest date back to the 18th century, though the neighborhood developed primarily in the 1950s, like many neighborhoods in Luxembourg. There are also numerous newer apartment buildings.
Several real estate projects are expected to further revitalize this neighborhood.
