Pulvermühl, family quartier undergoing reconversion

The Pulvermühl district, known as Polvermillen in Luxembourgish, is a small neighborhood located along the Alzette River. Currently the least populated district in Luxembourg City, it is awaiting the redevelopment of its former industrial sites.

Located in the center-east, between the districts of Cents and Hamm, from whose development it benefits, it is one of the main gateways to the city. Located close to the city center, it is appreciated for its green environment.

Atmosphere in Pulvermühl, a neighborhood in Luxembourg

The least populated district in Luxembourg City, Pulvermühl is a family-friendly neighborhood located between the city and nature.

Like the Hamm district, this neighborhood was previously part of the municipality of Sandweiler until 1873. It separated from the Hamm district in 1920.

The neighborhood's housing consists mainly of detached houses from the 1880s and 1930s-50s, mixed with more recent constructions.

The long-awaited redevelopment of the Polfermillen industrial sites should breathe new life into the Pulvermuhl neighborhood. The Polfermillen site was home to a mill, then a cotton mill and a drapery factory in the 19th century. A laundry and a lifting company moved in during the 20th century. For the time being, the site is still undergoing decontamination work.
This redevelopment project for the historic site will create 210 new homes (houses and apartments), 1,600 m² of office space, and 3,000 m² of additional green space.

The neighborhood benefits from its advantageous location along the Alzette River. It is one of the most popular areas for walking and cycling in Luxembourg.

This neighborhood also has a hidden gem for walks or picnics. The old abandoned "Schlaïfmillen" textile factory has been given a new lease of life thanks to artists who have renovated the old mill. They welcome walkers and show them their creations. This magical place, at the bottom of Rue Godchaux, is just a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
The Godchaux Circuit allows you to visit these timeless places.

The Pulvermühl district is not a nightlife-oriented neighborhood. However, it is home to a famous Irish pub, the Black Stuff.

Living in the Pulvermühl district of Luxembourg

The Pulvermühl neighborhood is located at the junction of several neighborhoods in the city of Luxembourg. It is a thoroughfare from the A1 motorway exit to the city via the Irrgarten roundabout.

Outside this major road axis of the capital, the atmosphere today is more like that of a village. The neighborhood is located between the city and nature. The redevelopment of the former industrial site should give it a new lease of life, especially given its proximity to the Alzette River.

Please note that the number of transactions in the area is low, which explains the significant variations (see below).
