16 hectares of greenery in the Cloche d'Or district of Gasperich
The new Ban de Gasperich Municipal Park completes the development of the new Cloche d'Or district. It is located in the Gasperich district, close to the Cloche d'Or.
It offers an ideal green setting with lawns, a pond, and landscaped paths. You can go there to play sports or simply relax with your family thanks to the many play facilities and various landscaped paths. In particular, there is a huge playground for children.
A brasserie with a total of more than 150 seats awaits visitors inside or on its terrace. The work will be completed in 2024.
The City of Luxembourg has been awarded a land-use planning prize for this park.
The English Garden, a children's playground in Luxembourg-Gasperich
The Jardin Anglais, located in the old part of Luxembourg-Gasperich, offers a beautiful farm-themed playground for young children. Children can play there for hours while their parents relax and chat with other parents from the neighborhood.
Family walks and fun in the Pétrusse Valley
The Pétrusse Valley is located under the Adolphe Bridge in Luxembourg City. It separates the Upper Town from the Bourbon Plateau. It can be accessed by stairs or via the Saint Esprit elevator.
The Petrusse Valley has been developed into a large park for the enjoyment of its residents. The entire space is centered around the Petrusse stream. This stream originates in Mamer, Luxembourg, and is a tributary of the Alzette in the Grund district of Luxembourg City.
The Pétrusse Valley is one of the iconic locations of the LUGA 2025 Urban Gardens exhibition.
Petrusse Parks: family walks
The green Petrusse parks in the Grund district offer beautiful walks that are easy and very pleasant to do, either on foot or by bike.
The Pétrusse Valley is a meeting place and relaxation spot for the whole family. It is the ideal place to go jogging, accompanied by children on bikes. In summer, visitors can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and coolness of its paths.
Pétrusse Express tourist train, the perfect family outing
The Pétrusse Express is easily recognizable with its apple green color. It is a tourist train that takes you on a tour of Luxembourg City, particularly the lower town. The tour lasts about an hour and introduces you to the historical past of Luxembourg City. This short tour is an ideal outing for the whole family without having to worry about the difference in elevation! Departures are every 30 minutes from Montée de Clausen near the Bock Casemates.
Facilities in the Pétrusse Valley for young and old
On the Grund side, enjoy mini golf, a miniature train for the little ones, as well as an outdoor fitness area and a skate park. On the Hollerich side, there is a public basketball court.
There is also a huge park for skateboarding.
The Petrusse Valley is also the setting for the famous Duck Race. For the more athletic, you can also explore this green space by running the DKV Urban Trail.
Edouard André Municipal Park: play pirates and relax with the family
Designed by landscape architect Edouard André in the 1870s, the superb municipal park of the City of Luxembourg offers a fabulous green space. It is ideal for relaxation and well-being for all in the heart of the Upper Town.
Designed as an English garden, this park is located on the former fortified grounds of the city, which were dismantled under the Treaty of London in 1867. Today, this green oasis offers shaded areas to cool off in the summer. It can be accessed via Avenue Monterey or Avenue de la Porte Neuve.
On the Monterey side, the large, life-size wooden pirate ship is a delight for children. With its giant slide, sandboxes, swings, and water games, the Municipal Park is a magical and dreamlike place for children. It's the perfect place to spend a fabulous afternoon climbing, jumping, sliding, or splashing around. In summer, don't forget your swimsuit!
There is a small kiosk selling refreshments and snacks, as well as toilets.
A huge lawn, the "Kinnekswiss ,"is perfect for rest and relaxation or sports activities. It regularly hosts events and festivals such as "Kinnekswiss loves" in the summer. In winter, the Kinnekswiss hosts the large ice rink for the Christmas markets.
The park is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
The park is also home to the Villa Vauban, Luxembourg City's art museum.
Like the Petrusse Valley and the Alzette Valley, the Edouard André municipal park will be part of the LUGA 2025 exhibition showcasing urban gardens.
Merl Park for fun in the Merl and Belair neighborhoods
Merl Park is a beautiful 5-hectare park with a pond. It is located near the Luxembourg-Merl and Luxembourg-Belair neighborhoods . It is a favorite meeting place for mothers and children. It makes for a lovely family outing!
Facilities at Merl Park for families
Merl Park has a large playground for children of all ages with a large slide (and smaller ones) and swings. For the more athletic, there are ping-pong tables, a basketball court, and even a zip line. Large lawns are perfect for playing soccer or picnicking.
You can cycle or rollerblade around the lake or take a stroll with a stroller: the path is paved.
The park's pond is home to families of ducks, much to the delight of younger visitors. There is also a restaurant area where you can have lunch or a drink. The City of Luxembourg asks that you do not feed the ducks bread, as this is harmful to their health and encourages the growth of algae.
In the middle of the park, the restaurant "Le Pavillon du parc Belair" with its terrace overlooking the playground and the lake is very pleasant, especially as it has been completely renovated recently.
Activities for children at Merl Park
Every summer, from July to September, the City of Luxembourg organizes the "Jump for Fun" activity with a trampoline park for the whole family to enjoy! Be sure to bring non-slip socks. They are also available for purchase on site.
Please note: the park is open until 10 p.m. from April 15 to September 15, and from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the rest of the year.
Play princesses and knights in Scheiwisschen Park
Scheiwisschen Park is known as the "Castle Park." It is also located near the Merl and Belair neighborhoods.
This children's playground features a large castle. A real fairy-tale castle with a keep, knights, and small farm animals in the village, it is a dream come true for all children. They can climb it, cross the rope bridges, and more, although you may sometimes have to rescue them from narrow passages not designed for adults!
Your children can even enjoy the nearby swings. Picnic areas allow you to enjoy sunny days with your family.

Kaltreis Park in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie isa playground with a space theme. You'll find a huge rocket, water games, ping-pong tables, and a pétanque court for people of all ages to relax.
Central Park in the Kirchberg district
Parc Central is located in the Kirchberg district of Luxembourg. It is the main green space in this area of the Kirchberg Plateau. This airy park is located between the European School I and the D'Coque National Sports and Cultural Center.

Central Park has a large pond fed by rainwater and runoff, as well as play areas. There is even a large open-air amphitheater and several works of art.
There is also an open-air restaurant, a kind of refreshment bar that is open on sunny days.
What activities are there for children in the Central Park?
Parc Central offers a breath of fresh air in the center of the Kirchberg Plateau, which is rather urban and business-oriented. Enjoy the vast spaces for relaxation, walks, or sports.

You will also find the work "Dendrite" by Canadian artist Michel de Broin in the center of the park's vegetation maze. You can climb 7 meters high on this gigantic yellow staircase to admire the surroundings.
The Central Park is also home to the Kirchberg Arboretum, along with two other parks, Reimerwee and Klosegroendchen.
What could be better for residents or people working in the neighborhood than enjoying a lunch break or an afternoon snack with the family?
Take the opportunity to enjoy a drink or a game of pétanque with friends at the Kyosk, the refreshment bar open in the park on sunny days. What a pleasure it is to relax in the evening with an excellent Flammenkueche and admire the sunset in bohemian-style armchairs and surroundings.
The route ofthe ING Night Marathon, a major sporting event in Luxembourg, passes through this beautiful park.
Parc Laval, Eich and Weimerskirch districts
Parc Laval is located in the Eich and Weimerskirch districts of Luxembourg. Away from the crowded playgrounds of the city center, this large park is a very pleasant place to relax with the family.
Parc Laval is an English-style park located near the Alzette River, at the bottom of the Eich hill. As you stroll through the park, you can admire magnificent century-old chestnut trees. In the part of the park that has been deliberately left in its natural state, you can admire a few wild orchids. Please note that picking them is prohibited, as they are a protected species.
The park entrance is located near Place Dargent. Two playgrounds and a multi-sports field are available for children and adults alike.
Tony Neuman Garden, a place to relax in Limpertsberg
Alphonse Hollman, who was commissioned to create an arboretum in the park of the villa owned by the president of Arbed, designed the Tony Neuman Garden in 1946. This well-maintained wooded and flower-filled park is notable for its monumental trees, such as sequoias.
The park also has large lawns for relaxing and a playground for children. This park is located in the Limpertsberg district.
Modern sculptures, some of which were created by renowned local artists, adorn this garden and give it its unique character.
At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, Limpertsberg was known for its rose gardens and fields of roses, which were exported all over the world and to the great European courts. Today, the Rose Trail offered by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office allows visitors to explore the streets of Limpertsberg and discover its hidden treasures, including Tony Neuman Park.
The park is very peaceful as it is not very busy. The main entrance is on Avenue de la Faïencerie, near number 162A.

Looking for a more bucolic activity for your children? Pick seasonal fruit yourself in the orchards of Steinsel! Every year, the Vergers de Steinsel cooperative invites families and children to pick apples or mirabelle plums directly from the trees.
This outdoor activity, close to nature, is fun for the whole family. You can show your children the beauty of Luxembourg's orchards and give them the pleasure of picking their own apples!
What's more, visitors are offered freshly squeezed fruit juice. So don't hesitate! Take the opportunity to stock up on different varieties of apples at a reasonable price.
During the season, a sign on Rue de Luxembourg in Bridel shows the way to the orchards.
Forests and walks around Luxembourg
Did you know that the City of Luxembourg offers very pleasant walks and fitness trails in its communal forests, right on the edge of the city?
Luxembourg's forests are beautiful in all seasons. They are a wonderful place for children to play and explore. Organize outings to pick lilies of the valley on May 1.
However, during the hunting season from mid-October to the end of January, remember to wear clothing that is sufficiently visible to hunters. Hunting is usually indicated at the edge of the road or at the entrances to forests. So be careful.
Bambësch Forest for family relaxation
To the north of Luxembourg City, accessible via the Muhlenbach district, the large municipal forest of Bambësch offers a green space and relaxation area for all Luxembourg residents.

Bambësch Park presents the history of Luxembourg City through various play facilities. There is even a replica of the Trois Glands museum. Water games and shaded areas offer places to cool off in summer.
Hiking and fitness trails in the forest
There are numerous hiking and nature trails for walkers to enjoy. Clearly marked for routes ranging from 4.6 to 7.5 km, the starting points are located on bus line 21 at Rollingergrund or line 275 towards Kopstal.
For the more athletic, there is a 2.7 km fitness trail with 18 exercise stations. A 5.5 km cross-country trail is available for the more adventurous. The starting point is located near the Bambesch Leisure Center car park on Rue de Bridel.
The Bambësch Sports Center has a magnificent playground for children, a tennis club, and a soccer field. The changing rooms and showers are available free of charge!
Kockelscheuer Forest: walks and family sports activities
The Kockelscheuer Forest is located in the south of Luxembourg, beyond the Gasperich and Cloche d'Or neighborhoods. The mainentrance to the Kockelscheuer Forest is located near the Kockelscheuer ice rink (bus line 18).
You can explore the woods on foot or even by mountain bike if your children are older. The path along the edge of the pond is suitable for strollers. Barbecue and picnic areas and a small playground welcome families. A 2.75 km fitness trail with 14 exercise stations awaits you there.
Are you a sporty family? Don't miss the CK Center with bowling, tennis courts, badminton, and paddle tennis. The Lux Golf Center also offers facilities for golf training and lessons.
Walks in the Hamm/Bonnevoie area
In the Hamm, Pulvermuehl, and Bonnevoie neighborhoods, you will also find several walks to enjoy with your family.
The 2 kmCircuit Godchaux, a testament to Luxembourg's industrial past, will take you on a journey through the Alzette Valley, from Bonnevoie to Hamm, to discover the history of the textile industry in Luxembourg, including the Villa Godchaux, the Atelier Schlaifmillen, and the former working-class neighborhoods of Rue Godchaux.
The Ecureuil circuit is 5.3 km long, starting near the crematorium in the Hamm district, and the Tilleul circuit is 6.9 km long, with starting points located on bus lines 5 or 6 on the Bonnevoie side, bus line 15 on the Hamm side, and lines 7 or 29 on the Pulvermühl side.
There are also two fitness trails, one 2.9 km long (18 stations) and the other 2.6 km long (13 stations), the first on the Bonnevoie side and the second in the Cents and Neudorf/Weimershof neighborhoods.
Cycling along the Alzette Valley
The Alzette Valley follows the course of the Alzette, one of Luxembourg's two main rivers. It rises in France, passes through Esch-sur-Alzette in the south of the country, crosses the city of Luxembourg and flows into the Sûre in the north.
The Alzette Valley offers nature lovers charming walks or bike rides to enjoy with the family.
With children, you can start from the Grund in Luxembourg City, on Rue Bisserwee, and follow the ten-kilometer bike path that runs along the Alzette to the town of Hesperange. Stop halfway along the route at the "Millen" (mill) near the small bridge. It's a very pleasant spot for a picnic.
You will also see the sculpture of Melusine, reinterpreted by Sege Ecker, as well as the Kloutschtergaart, a very pretty terraced garden. See the Luxembourg legend of Melusine.
For the more athletic, you can head north from Béreldange in the municipality of Walferdange and follow Cycle Route 15 to Ettelbrück. These 31 km will take you to the Luxembourg Ardennes. You will pass magnificent castles, including Colmar-Berg, the residence of the Grand Ducal family.

The Acro-parc in Heiderscheid is located in the Upper Sûre Nature Park. The course, consisting of ropes and wooden structures, is accessible to children aged 3 and up. Climbing activities are organized in age groups of 3 to 5, 6 to 13, and 14 and up.
Adventure Island in Echternach
Adventure Island is located on an island in Lake Echternach. It offers a tree-climbing course up to 10 m high for ages 11 and up (minimum height 1.50 m). There is also a 70-meter-long zip line and a giant swing that reaches speeds of up to 70 km/h! A trampoline park and bungee trampolines (with elastic cords) are available for children.
Indian Forest Adventure Park
Indian Forest Adventure Park is located in the heart of the magnificent Our Nature Park. It is accessible by reservation for a tree-top adventure course with 90 activities, for ages 5 and up. The park offers the longest zip line in Luxembourg, at 375 m, accessible to children aged 12 and over! You can park your car in the Château de Vianden car park, which is a 10-minute walk from the climbing area. Take the opportunity to visit the castle!
Parc Le'h in Dudelange
Parc Le'h is located in the municipality of Dudelange. Seven tree-climbing courses are available for all levels and ages. The bambini course is reserved for toddlers, while the more adventurous and older visitors can tackle the course, which is up to 17 meters high! This course is renowned as one of the most challenging and difficult in Europe. It's a great opportunity to recover from the excitement at the excellent restaurant of the same name, Parc Le'h.
Speed racing at the Mondercange karting track
Looking for a more athletic activity? The ACL karting trackin Mondercange has an outdoor karting circuit over 800 meters long and a fleet of 40 karts for children and adults. Sessions last from 10 to 60 minutes. Children aged 8-10 can only drive on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
You can also take driving lessons on a circuit where international drivers such as Michael Schumacher have competed.
The club takes a winter break from early November to early March.
