Roomie Radar: a simple and useful solution for finding accommodation
Aimed at expats who have recently arrived or are preparing to move to Luxembourg, Roomie Radar is an innovative solution for finding a room with confidence. Founded by two expats who themselves faced difficulties in the local rental market, this free platform aims to become a benchmark in the sector.
A solution to a problem well known to expats
Roomie Radar was created by two expats who have been living in Luxembourg for four years: Salvador Reynes and Javier Geisseler. Faced with the realities of the Luxembourg housing market—limited supply, difficulty accessing reliable information, lack of a platform dedicated solely to room rentals—they decided to create their own solution. As Javier recalls:
"There was no website specifically dedicated to flat-sharing or room rentals in Luxembourg."
The goal is clear: to offer a simple, secure, and intuitive platform for finding or offering a room to rent, aimed particularly at expatriates from Europe, but also from India, the United States, and Africa.
A platform designed for users
Unlike generalist websites focused on renting entire apartments, Roomie Radar focuses on simplicity. The website was developed in-house, with the help of third-party developers, to ensure a smooth interface and an excellent user experience.
Salvador emphasizes:
"In just a few clicks, you can create a profile, publish or apply for a room."
For landlords, one of the major advantages is simplified ad management: a room that has already been posted can be deactivated and then reactivated at any time without having to recreate the ad. The site is aimed at agencies, co-living spaces, and individuals with a spare room—for example, parents whose children have left home to study.
A free and expanding service
Today, the platform is completely free for both tenants and landlords. There are no commissions or subscriptions: the main goal is to increase awareness and the number of listings.
In figures, this translates into:
- More than 1,000 new users in the last three months
- Nearly 6,000 monthly visits to the site
An expansion strategy based on creating an active community, particularly via social media, and on a variety of partnerships.
Towards complementary services
While Roomie Radar is currently a digital marketplace, its founders are planning to go further. Among the ideas under consideration are offering additional services to make rentals even more secure, such as certified visits by partners.
Javier explains:
"We don't want to limit ourselves to a simple catalog of listings. We want to add value, in particular by reassuring expatriates about the reliability of the accommodation."
A clear ambition for the Luxembourg market
By positioning themselves as the go-to portal for roommate sharing in Luxembourg, the founders of Roomie Radar want to fill an obvious gap in the market.
Salvador concludes:
"We want to be the go-to platform for anyone looking for a room here."
