The history of scouting in Luxembourg
Scouting has a long history in Luxembourg. The country's first scout group was created in 1914, just four years after Lord Baden-Powell founded the scout movement.
Over the years, Scouting in Luxembourg has grown exponentially. Today,there are several active Scout groups throughout the country.
These groups offer Luxembourgish children and young adults a platform to engage in a wide range of activities. These range from outdoor adventures to community service projects.
Since 2019, HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume has been the Chief Scout of Luxembourg. He took over this role after the death of his grandfather, Grand Duke Jean.
Values of the Luxembourg Scout Movement
Scouting in Luxembourg is based on fundamental values that guide its activities and programs. These values include teamwork, responsibility, respect for others and the environment, and personal development.
Regardless of the Scout movement chosen, there are common values: empowering children and young Scouts and Guides, thriving within a group social life, developing team spirit and sharing, learning tolerance, respecting nature, etc.
Scouting activities in Luxembourg
In Scouting movements, tablets and other social networks are forgotten in favor of group games, outdoor activities, and learning about natural resources.

Enrolling your children in a Scouting organization in Luxembourg
There are three Scouting federations in Luxembourg. You can enroll your children in any of these organizations:
- the FNEL or Fédération Nationale des Eclaireurs et Eclaireuses du Luxembourg (National Federation of Scouts and Guides of Luxembourg),
- the LGS, Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten, and the ESL,
- Europa Scouts vu Lëtzebuerg.

National Federation of Scouts of Luxembourg - FNEL
The FNEL, Fédération Nationale des Eclaireurs du Luxembourg, is a secular scouting movement that welcomes children from the age of 6. There are several sections depending on the age of your children. The many activities are focused on nature, group activities, and sharing.

Robert Schuman French-speaking unit

Telstar English-speaking unit
Telstar is the English-speaking unit of the FNEL National Federation of Scouts. Children can participate from the age of 6. For more information, visit the website telstar.lu
Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten - Guides and Scouts of Luxembourg - LGS

The Saint Alphonse Group (Agrupamento de Escuteiros de Santo Afonso, or simply AESA) is the Portuguese-speaking unit of the Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten. The movement has been active since 1982.

Europa Scouts vu Lëtzebuerg - Scouts of Europe in Luxembourg
The Europa Scouten vu Lëtzebuerg are members of the International Union of Guides and Scouts of Europe.
With over 55,000 members, they work according to the same fundamental Catholic principles. Membership is open to children aged 8 and above.
